Every year,the famous Car festival of Lord Jagannath falls on the second day of bright fortnight of the month of Ashada when Lord Jagannath with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra goes on vacation, to their aunty’s house,i.e Gundicha Temple, travelling on grand chariots, from his temple. After a stay of nine days the return journey starts for the temple. This is a big festival for Hindus. Lots of His devotees joins this festival, by pulling the chariot from His Temple to His Aunt’s Temple, Gundicha Temple.
Jagannath, believed to be an avatar of Lord Vishnu, is the Lord of Puri — the coastal town of Orissa in eastern India. Rathyatra is of great significance to the Hindus, and especially to the people of Orissa. During this time, the three deities of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra are taken out in a grand procession in specially made gigantic temple-like chariots called raths, which are pulled by thousands of devotees.
