India’s Railway minister and former CM of Bihar won a battle against NDA in Supreme Court. The SC today declined to cancel the bail granted to Lalu Yadav and his wife also former CM Rabri Devi in a disproportionate assets case. The SC court also dismissed two PILs seeking the change of judge in Patna who is trying this case. The judges were not united but the majority of the judges believed that there was no irregularities in the Patna court judgement and thus the bail still valid and also warned against the PILs as politically motivated.
This will not really go well with the NDA circle as both the PILs were filed by senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi and JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan Singh ‘Lallan’, in which they have also challenged the quashing of Income Tax cases against the Railway Minister and his wife. The RJD camp is celebrating and the NDA camp is still trying to put a brave face as this means the other cases in the court will now be seen from a different angle after the SC verdict. What is your say on the entire episode do you think the SC got it wrong?
